Stonemasons / Rope Access to Crichton Collegiate Church
Edinburgh Stonemasons Ltd We were commissioned to carry out rope access lime pointing works to Crichton Collegiate Church Midlothian.
We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to remove 1702 bell for restoration. This allowed us to carry out urgent lime pointing to the 14 century bell tower. Crichton Church was founded on 26 December 1449 by William Crichton, 1st Lord Crichton, Lord Chancellor of Scotland The church was built in a Gothic and Romanesque cruciform style with a large central tower; the nave was used as the place of worship for the poor people. This continued until the Scottish Reformation of 1560 when it was considered unusable. Our highly experienced stonemasons are experts in conservation.
Edinburgh Stonemasons Ltd specialise in the conservation and restoration of stone buildings and structures. We use traditional techniques and materials which incorporate today’s best practices.
