Another recent commission for Edinburgh Stonemasons Ltd has been at the beautiful Inveraray Castle. The schedule included utilising rope access to ensure that any loose masonry identified was made safe to the public, saving thousands on the cost of scaffolding.
The existing stone had split into two sections. We did find both sections were stable. Due to it’s size and location it wasn’t possible to remove the cracked section via rope access.
In order to prevent any further movement and ensure safety, we stitched the section together using two stainless steel rods and epoxy resin. The stitch also protrudes into the stone beneath to ensure the entire element can’t move.
