Wh Smith – Dalkeith THI and CARS is a regeneration scheme Midlothian

Earlier 19th century. 3-storey, 4-bay (irregular) tenement with modern shop fronts included at ground. Stugged squared and coursed rubble; rendered and painted masonry around shop fronts; ashlar dressings and mullions. Droved raised margins. Base course. Band course between fascia and 1st floor cills. Lintel course at eaves level. Eaves cornice.

StoneWorks completed at 67-71 High Street Dalkeith

The scheme is to repair the stonework, rebuild one of the chimneys, repair and repaint all the windows and provide a new shop front, refurbishing the original detailing along the shop fascia. This building is typical of many of the mid 19th century buildings that existed in Dalkeith but now only a few remain.

Edinburgh Stonemasons were selected to carry out the following work:

  • We replaced 40 new stone
  • 60 m2 of Lime pointing
  • Lithomex to stone mullons & window lintel’s
  • New chimney
  • 70 lithomex stones
  • Many more
